I think it's time to bring out the walkthrough again. I hate it when they dish out the map puzzles. Though they've become considerate and put a shortcut to the jungle entrance.

Great Ugly Betty episode this week but only because of Mark. I like the way he's been helping out Justin. And he dances pretty well. And I like how Amanda is going back to a character with real feelings than just comic relief.

Geez. Morpheus could have shown at least more emotion when the girl finally showed up. One thing you could say for Sarah Sidle, she would have milked that scene for all its crying worth.

Mentalist. I have a feeling that Simon Baker and the guy who plays Bosco are friends in real life. I like the way Van Pelt slapped Rigsby for not wearing a vest, just like a good girlfriend should.

House. Didnt expect the secret boyfriend. It may be the writers' way of paving a new love interest, but something in House's face makes me think this isn't over.

I can't believe a person could actually die in Monkey Island. That's never happened right? Right?

I was hungry after class, but unfortunately Kubo was feeling burgers. Burger King was too big, had to take half home. Whatever happened to the small regular ham and cheese? At least it saved me the trouble of picking a snack for tonight.

I'm very happy that KL books immediately gave me the next work to do. Unfortunately, this weekend is going to be a busy one.

I have finally discovered the joys of free Comic Fonts. (Thanks for the tip, Dang.) I have a knack for making my life more complicated.

I thought it would be easier to keep translating and worry about fixing the fonts later. Fixing the fonts later is a drag too. So is going back to stuff I skipped because the net was down this afternoon. I've stopped minding that editing the lettering isn't really my job. I guess when you like the work...

Solved another puzzle in Guybrush. Look, no walkthroughs! It's like reading an Agatha Christie. After the first ten books, the murderer gets easier to guess.

I am liking the manga that Shinji gives me. It's always funny and only slightly naked. I don't even mind that it's more wordy than just filling in all the "Oohs" and "Aahs". I wonder if all of the other translators are given the same thing, and whether do they actually make money out of not-quite-porn.

I quit computering from my bed. It was killing my knees and apparently making me sleepy.

*SNIFF* I peeked at the walkthrough. I had no choice. I was stuck. I really tried everything. I could have kicked myself when I found out the answer was nothing fancy except to badger the witness three times. Grog nuts.

I got a couple of jobs offered to me while the moon was void of course today. One I want but isn't definitely mine yet, the other I don't but I already agreed to. I wouldnt mind losing the first if it means losing the last. Anyway it's not till next week and a lot can happen before then. I'll let you know how it turns out.

The heat is outrageous. Well at least my shorts are dry.

3 puzzles down in Guybrush and I haven't looked at the walkthrough yet. Pray that I can keep it up.

It's that hot that happens before rain.

Nothing much to report today. Alternately studying and zonking out. I prefer plastic covers with thin sheets. The thicker ones have sharper edges when you fold them. And I pride myself that the books look like they havent been covered at all.

I wished I hadnt watched CSI and Ugly Betty last night and The Mentalist this morning, now I have to wait till tomorrow to get House. Oh right, I don't understand why Matt would do that to Amanda, he's not that clueless to think that she wouldnt assume that he was asking her out. Or it was just a bad judgement on the part of the writers.

Booty for the week:
Photobucket

Japanese chessboard, only without the board. They let me have it for 20 pesos because only the pieces were left. (And missing one, boohoohoo.)

Photobucket
Anime soundtrack mini disc. The only one I've seen so far.

Photobucket

Books.

Photobucket

My favorite find. It looks old but it actually still works. You can hear a voice say the letter you press. The batteries actually cost more.

Photobucket

This one isnt from the Japan goods shop so it costs more and not sure I'll get one. You can see towels folded so they'd look like cakes, now they're turning to sushi.

Speaking of booty, I finally downloaded Guybrush part 4. I feel like taking my time with this one. I sort of had a dread feeling up my spine when I saw Stan's icon, but he's actually less annoying now.

Guys from Globe just dropped by to fix the net. It was surprisingly quick, they just fixed some settings. They said that it might have been wiped out during an illegal shutdown. Urk, my fault most likely. To think it could have been fixed much much earlier. Geez.

Globe now has this nifty feedback system. After the job, the guys are supposed to let me speak to their handler. She asked questions like, Were they polite? Were they wearing their uniforms? My only complaint was they didnt set a time for an appointment. They came by yesterday actually, and when they came today I was still asleep. And they have their own cels and all.

One of them seemed interested in nihongo. So I gave him a book. Best tip I've ever done.

Yay~ Survived another Saturday.

Joy was about to give me a class meant for Jovy for Monday. Although I wonder why Jovy was given a class outside her working hours, Im okay with it not being mine. Reviewing is more important for me this month.

I don't get why KL books have to check my work before giving me the next one. As if the one affects the other.

Rubber shoes are stinking again. Bought a fake pair of crocs this morning along Morayta. They're surprisingly comfortable.

Globe tells me that my account has not been cut-off after all. Haha. Paid the overdues anyway to be safe.

I had trouble getting payment from a translation work. Good news is they got the accounting sorted out, bad news is I'm getting it at the end of the month. At any rate, it's been a great honor to be able to translate for Japan Railways. Hope they did really use it somewhere.

Refused to translate a birth certificate for Robert Malik via Alice today though. He was my "rival" back in PIJLC days. Ogata and Violy loved him so much they can translate for him. 3 years in Japan, 1 year in PIJLC, years interpreting for factories, and now aiming to be a teacher and he can't translate a simple birth certificate. (I don't deny I'm mean.)

Super Saturday again tomorrow.

The E-passport thing was actually a breeze. But we spent too much time window-shopping in MarketMarket and some bank transactions in Ayala. After I came home I rushed to the net cafe with my laptop and finished off the second manga translation.

Apparently "okazu ga dekiru" which literally means to "make side dishes" means figuratively to masturbate. I had to search for an equivalent English idiom. The only thing I could come up with is "beating meat." If you could suggest something else, please do let me know. I'm sure it'll be handy in the future. (Pun not intended.)

Anyway, now I can rest. Tomorrow morning Manila to cash check then to Makati for Ogata's class. I think I just heard a person say in my head "Mata Rainen" (Better luck next year.) Oh well, I'm grateful for the considerable level-up this year regardless.

I was with my sister earlier, hence the quick post. Went with her to pick up a book from the main post office. She knew I'd miss seeing the post office. The book was supposed to help her with the IBM job, but sadly they informed her that the project didnt push through and she was no longer needed. She's half of a mind to sue them. But would it really help?

Then we went to SM North-Trinoma. She got a new dvd writer. I had my picture taken. Then we had passport renewal forms printed out in Netopia. I tried doing it with my Epson printer, but it always leaves some space at the start that it couldnt print the document completely in one page. Tomorrow we'll be up early for the DFA appointment at 10 am.

Im kinda sorry now for recommending Trapped Abduction, given the hanging ending. And the developers aren't Russian. Nuts.

I've been alternating from studying and playing Trapped Abduction and Devil's Triangle, both HOGs, needless to say my eyes are whimpering.

I didnt feel like going to ncf today but I had to file for my transportation allowance and so on. And might as well prepare for Saturday while I was at it. Violy was a bit concerned that I didnt have work. But Im actually okay with it. I just wish the translation jobs would pay me already. I'm starting to think accept maybe I'm not cut out for teaching.

Devil's Triangle is actually a lot more challenging than Trapped. With Trapped you could just click on any out of place object, with Devil's it's a lot harder to find things. But I like Trapped more now because of the dark story. Wouldnt be surprised if the developers are Russian again.
